Nature highway to encourage wildlife

MyGCH

We were delighted to support Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and the local community to ‘green up’ Barton Street. The nature highway with its colourful mural is on a little pocket of land owned by GCH. We were more than happy to give our blessing to the project and we have plans to green up many more areas across the city in the months and years to come.

Forming part of the Wildlife Trust’s Barton Street Nature Highway project the idea is to create corridors for wildlife to travel between larger existing green spaces through urban built-up areas that can be wildlife deserts.

The artwork has been created by Forest of Dean mural artist Tom Cousins with help from girls at Al-Ashraf Secondary School for Girls. Pupils from St James CE Junior School painted the colourful plaques, which now adorn the surrounding planters.
