GCH takes grounds maintenance in-house

From 1st April, GCH will bring its grounds maintenance contract in-house. Up until now, the contract has been outsourced. So why is this good news for tenants?

Estates Manager Joe O’Riordan says: “No-one knows and loves our communities like GCH. Because our new grounds maintenance contractors will join our existing PropertyCare team, we can be much more flexible and responsive to customers.

“Before, we would have to raise any customer requests or concerns with an external contractor with a waiting time of up to 14 days. From April, we will be able to quickly rectify any issues. Best of all, it means a saving of 48% on the cost of the contract which we will use to invest in our homes and services.”

The grounds maintenance team will cover all GCH sites in Gloucester, including Matson, Podsmead, Kingsholm and Westgate, Coney Hill, Tuffley, Parklands,
Elmbridge, Lampreys, Barnwood, The Oval, Linden, Longlevens, Cathedral City, White City, the city centre and all our independent living schemes. They will mow the grass, cut hedges, clear leaves through the autumn and winter months and plant and maintain shrubs and borders.

“We are excited by the chance to include more biodiversity in our planting. For example, we are hoping to introduce wild flower patches, tree-planting and community orchards."
