We are proud to support National Apprenticeship Week 2022, running from 7th – 13th February. The week brings together businesses and apprentices across the country to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses and the wider economy. The theme for this year’s National Apprenticeship Week is “Build the Future” reflecting on how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and businesses to develop a talented workforce that is equipped with future-ready skills. GCH is proud to support young people by providing a high number of apprenticeships, traineeships and also work placements continuing on to support their development further should they continue to work for GCH after their qualification.

Sam joined GCH as Business Administration Apprentice in April 2021 working alongside and supporting the HR team whilst working towards his qualification. Sam said “I am a Business Administration Apprentice working in the HR Team with a focus on learning and development. I have helped with maintaining compliance on mandatory training courses and booking training direct from suppliers. I’m about to start a project introducing a helpdesk service for HR and I’m really looking forward to that.

Before my apprenticeship I had a part time retail job and was a student drama teacher. I enjoyed my part time job however teaching wasn’t for me. Lockdown also meant I wasn’t able to go into the school and all shops closed.

My apprenticeship at GCH has hugely boosted my employability and I now have a much better idea of the direction I want to take my future in. I had never had a full-time job, or any experience in an office environment before.

GCH have been really supportive throughout my apprenticeship. They have given me plenty of time to complete my Level 3 in Business Administration which I’m doing with Prospect Training Services.”

Vicky, GCH’s Learning and Development Officer said, “Sam has been a great asset to GCH since he joined. He is extremely personable, enthusiastic and has a great attitude. It has been a steep learning curve for Sam but he has risen to the challenge and is growing in confidence and skills.”

GCH has many members of staff who have started by doing apprenticeships and traineeships and have gone on to secure permanent roles across all different teams in the business including Marketing, Development, Business Support, HR and Repairs. Although GCH do not currently have any vacancies available for apprenticeships we encourage those looking for apprenticeships to use the Government Website to explore opporunities.
