We’re now seeking a Multi-Trade Operative to join our Repairs Team – someone to carry out high quality routine and emergency trade related work/repairs & maintenance to GCH customers’ homes and commercial premises. You’ll work in accordance with prescribed work schedules, the Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) and to GCH established standard policy & procedures set for delivery of exceptional customer service.

You’ll repair, maintain, and install multiple trade items including roof, structure & fabric of buildings, service supplies, fixtures & fittings, as well as other products associated with plumbing, carpentry and wet trades. Liaising with both internal and external customers, line manager/supervisor, scheduler and colleagues appropriately and promptly, you’ll ensure those connected or involved in your work are aware of progress and action taken or action required to rectify any identified defect/s, concerns or accounts of resident vulnerability Completing a high percentage of jobs as first time fix to achieve excellent customer satisfaction.

We’d like you to…

  • Hold a City & Guilds / NVQ Level 2 or above in an associated trade/craft.
  • Have previous experience in applying multi trade skills to the installation, repair and maintenance of fixtures, fittings and fitments.
  • Have experience of working in a customer responsive environment.
  • Have full working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements related to workshop practice and maintenance.
  • Be able to prioritise and organise own workload.
  • Be a problem solver with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Be able to interpret manufacturers’ instructions/technical manuals and drawings (desirable).
  • Be IT literate, comfortable working with electronic devices, PDA’s, tablets and computers (desirable).

You’ll play a vital role in supporting our provision of an effective governance framework across the organisation and help ensure the smooth running of our governance processes.

You will be involved in managing and delivering on a variety of tasks, from co-ordinating Board & Committee meetings and papers to collating necessary details to support GCH’s insurance claims responses, ensuring all details are managed quickly and efficiently. With a meticulous approach to work, you will deliver professional administrative support to the Chief Executive, including correspondence, diary management and coordinating meetings and events. You will learn about the importance of governance and compliance in our organisation, supporting the Governance Lead to manage our internal audit and risk management programmes. You’ll develop a strong understanding of how good governance helps organisations succeed.

What We’re Looking For

  • A willingness to learning governance, compliance, and corporate administration key processes.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in written communication.
  • Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
  • Good IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

We’re now seeking a Capital Contracts Manager – someone to oversee the successful delivery of allocated capital and planned revenue investment projects from procurement of contracts to completion. You’ll operate as an expert for GCH, providing technical building support and advice to the team and managing one-off and specialist contracts and oversee the delivery of large adaptation work, legal disrepair, large one-off projects, decent homes, retrofit and decarbonisation activities.

Delivering one-off and major projects to upgrade or improve the association’s housing stock and ensuring the proposed improvements are delivered in the most efficient way, you’ll be the lead Officer in Contract Management for Planned Works from design, procurement, delivery, and implementation and be responsible for CDM compliance for the team.

You’ll support the Asset and Sustainability Manager on all contract and/or commercial issues and disputes and be responsible for allocated budgets, budget profiling, monitoring expenditure and reporting on monthly performance in relation to spend and works completed. Taking accountability for all information added to the Asset Database, you will ensure that all GCH properties are maintained to Government Decent Homes standard, through the delivery of capital and cyclical programmes.

We’d like you to…

  • Have substantial experience at a senior level of Asset Management, Property Investment and Public Procurement.
  • Hold a relevant management qualification, such as ILM Level 4 in Leadership and Management.
  • Hold a relevant technical qualification, e.g. CIOB, RICS or CIH.
  • Have demonstrable strategic experience of leading, managing, motivating and developing staff in a changing environment.
  • Have a proven track record of managing resources, procurement activities, budgets and contracts with an ability to identify and eliminate risks, ensuring value for money and the delivery of high-quality services.
  • Have knowledge of Building Surveying and Asset Management, Contract Management, Disrepair and HHSRS.
  • Be able to understand and present technical information clearly and communicate matters related to asset management to a varied audience.
  • Have substantial experience of delivering successful outcomes through robust performance management together with proven project management experience.
  • Be able to successfully manage complex construction projects.
  • Be able to work within tight deadlines and budget, whilst promoting stakeholder involvement at all levels.

This role is based at Hewmar House, GCH's exciting, new Young Persons Supported Accommodation scheme. Please note that this role forms part of a rota that covers 7-days per week, therefore weekend working is required regularly. This role is also not suitable for compressed hours. The scheme operates on a 24/7 staffed basis, however the hours for this role will only be required between 7:45am - 10:00pm. No night working is required.

Within this role, you’ll deliver one to one key work sessions, groupwork and activities through the support model so that residents can access tailored solutions that meet their needs, wishes and aspirations. Ensuring young people are encouraged to take responsibility for their own personal development, to engage with the services on offer and build strong networks and connections within the local community to sustain their journey when they move on, you’ll ensure their views, aspirations, concerns, and ideas are sought so they can play an active role in influencing the services they receive.

We’d like you to have…

  • GCSE/NVQ Level 2 in relevant subjects, or equivalent expertise through relevant CPD training/experience relating to housing, support work, and/or working with young people or adults at risk.

You’ll ensure that Data Protection compliance is proactively prioritised across the organisation and resourced appropriately to ensure key delivery which minimises organisational risks and take the lead in ensuring subject access requests are appropriately supported including end to end meeting administration support.

  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
  • Experience of report writing and presentation to Executive Leadership Teams and Governing bodies.

At our new and exciting young person’s supported housing property we are required to be agile to meet the changing and evolving needs on a day-to-day basis for the scheme.
