Having listened carefully to the repeated concerns raised by members of the local community, we can confirm that steps have been taken to terminate the leasehold interests of one of the commercial leaseholders at the shops on Matson Avenue.
This decision has not been taken lightly, and we understand that the closure of three shop units during this process may cause disruption to the community. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience to residents who rely on these services.
The legal process includes a six-month period in which the leaseholder has the right to seek reinstatement of the leases, and we will not be commenting further on the details of the case during this time.
We are currently exploring temporary options to help ensure access to basic supplies in the local area while a longer-term solution is developed.
We’re hopeful this will mark the beginning of a fresh start for the Matson shops. As we move forward, we’ll be involving local residents in shaping what comes next and ensuring the offer meets the needs of the community.
