GCH customers in Westgate flats can now recycle small electrical items more easily, thanks to a new recycling point.
The new facility is the first of its kind to be introduced in Gloucester flats and has been developed following extensive discussions between GCH and the council. It will help customers dispose of small electrical waste responsibly and reduce the amount of recyclable items ending up in general waste bins.
Small electrical items contain valuable materials that can be recovered and reused, but too often they are thrown away with household rubbish. By providing a dedicated recycling point close to residents’ homes, we hope to make recycling easier and more convenient and reduce fly tipping in the area.
What can be recycled?
The recycling point accepts small electrical items measuring no larger than 43cm wide x 25cm high x 30cm deep (approximately the size of a microwave or smaller).
Examples include:
- Toasters
- Coffee machines
- Electric toothbrushes
- Cameras
- Chargers and cables
- Games consoles
- Laptops
- Mobile phones
- Electronic children’s toys
- Clocks
- Calculators
- Wires and cables
Before you recycle
Please remember:
- Remove all batteries and light bulbs before placing items in the container.
- Items containing glass or china cannot be accepted.
- Remove any personal data from laptops, phones and other devices before recycling them.
This pilot scheme is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting more sustainable communities and helping customers reduce waste. The recycling point is solely for GCH residents living in flats in Westgate and is not a public drop-off facility.
