A new defibrillator has been installed at Badger Vale Independent Living Scheme, thanks to the determination of residents and support from us.
After a difficult period, where several members of the community experienced the sudden loss of friends and neighbours, customers at Badger Vale raised the idea of improving safety on site.
We worked closely with them to explore what was involved, including ongoing responsibilities, costs and the best location for the defibrillator. At a meeting with residents, there was strong support for making it happen.
Mr and Mrs Marlow successfully applied to the British Heart Foundation for a defibrillator and generously donated it to the scheme. Our electrical engineer then installed it, ensuring it was safely in place and ready to use.
As part of the process, the community has committed to learning CPR. Debbie, our Independent Living Co-ordinator, has already completed the training, and further sessions will be offered, so more people feel confident to act in an emergency.
With several residents living with heart conditions, having a defibrillator on site provides extra reassurance and could make a vital difference when every second counts.
This achievement shows what can happen when customers take the initiative and work together with us to make their ideas a reality, creating a safer, stronger community for everyone.
