Homeless Accommodation Officer

We are now seeking a Homeless Accommodation Officer to be responsible for the day-to-day management of our temporary homeless properties working in partnership with Gloucester City Council housing options team to deliver positive outcomes for our customers through a professional and supportive service.

You’ll be responsible for your own caseload and safeguarding referrals, working with colleagues to ensure GCH homeless properties are safe and well-maintained places to live. You’ll conduct inspections of homeless accommodation and take ownership of raising and checking the completion of activities related to the property, communal repairs, and neighbourhood cleanliness / condition. Approachable and accessible to customers, communicating openly and ensuring they are kept updated as appropriate, you’ll provide support with the management of key issues, such as fire safety compliance, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to successfully deliver solutions for customers relating to their homeless accommodation and that support the successful move on to permanent housing.

We’d like you to…

  • Have demonstrable experience of working with homeless and/or vulnerable people.
  • Understand key issues faced by homeless people, adult safeguarding, identifying support needs and assessing risk.
  • Have a good understanding of the problems associated with homelessness and the services and benefits available.
  • Be able to communicate and negotiate effectively with homeless and vulnerable people, as well as a wide range of support services and agencies.
  • Be able to give accurate and up to date advice, information, and support on a broad range of topics including Housing and ASB legislation, welfare benefit legislation and advice.
  • Have experience of dealing effectively and pro-actively with clients, in difficult situations where it is not always possible to meet customers’ needs/wishes.
  • Be IT literate, to include the use of PCs, mobile phones, digital cameras, and PDA’s, to gather, store and process information.
  • Have current knowledge and understanding of Housing Law and its application within social housing, including experience of enforcement action.
  • Have good understanding and up to date knowledge of homeless legislation and best practice and its implications for clients and housing organisations.
  • Have good understanding of housing and property management, especially relating to license agreements and the legal remedies.
  • Be a car user as travel is required between different sites

We’re now seeking a Homeless Team Coordinator to work with our Homeless Team, supporting the coordination of key tasks for the Homeless Services Manager to deliver a well organised and efficient service.

As Homeless Team Coordinator, you will support the Homeless Service Manager to produce high quality business performance reports, including updates on operational, service, and financial delivery of the service. You will collect and collate the KPI information from the Homeless Team Leader to produce meaningful reports and ensure that business systems used within the Homeless Team are smart and meet the needs of the service. You will also coordinate meetings with key stakeholders and provide full meeting support through preparation of agendas, minutes, and action logs. You will pro-actively manage incoming and outgoing post and support the Homeless Team with answering their direct number, taking rent payments over the phone or setting up Direct Debits.

You will work from various offices which would include the office at Serco House in Quedgeley where some of our homeless customers have their homes. We also work from our main office for Gloucester City Homes at Railway House in Gloucester, so being able to commute between offices is required.

We’d like you to…

  • Have strong administrative skills, with experience of implementing various Microsoft Office systems including Excel and Power point.
  • Have experience of working flexibly within a team.
  • Be highly organised with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Have a good understanding of customer service.
  • Be empathetic but assertive in your approach when communicating with our customers.
  • Have a desire to work within a busy but rewarding team.

We’re now seeking a System Implementation Officer – someone to be a versatile core member of an Agile (Scrum) team to deliver change that improves and enhances outcomes for the business and its customers. As a development team member, you will be involved in all elements of the project lifecycle; discovery, procurement, build, configuration, testing, training, deployment and embedding.

Specifically, you will help to design, build, and configure new systems and services, whilst seeking and reacting to feedback from stakeholders to ensure that the finished product meets their needs. You will work with the team to build and deliver detailed sprint plans that are understood and achievable and develop and utilise broad skills set to ensure that sprint goals are achieved. Building and maintaining strong relationships with the business and other key stakeholders, including 3rd parties, you will provide early life support for new systems and services to make sure that they are working as expected, that they are embraced by end users and that they become well embedded in the business. You will ensure the quality of delivered products by testing your work, peer reviewing the work of others, and supporting end users in their testing, and deliver fundamental change to the organisation by training and motivating others on new systems and processes you’ve created including designing, documenting, and maintaining system procedures.
