Gloucester City Homes (GCH) is delighted to announce the appointment of a new Chair of the Board of Directors. Current Board member, Asif Bhatti will take over the new role in September when current Chair, Tim Dare steps down after 12 years of service in accordance with the organisations rules.
Mr Bhatti joined the Board last year and has extensive experience of social housing and has worked with several significant national organisations over the last 20 years specialising in finance, audit and risk.
Ashley Green, Chief Executive at Gloucester City Homes said, “Replacing Tim has not been easy, however with Asif’s experience on our current Board, his technical and professional knowledge together with significant experience over several years with the East Thames Housing Association, supporting the development of sustainable communities through their housing programme in East London, he was a natural fit for the role.”
Asif Bhatti said “It is a great privilege to be taking up the role of Chair to help guide and support GCH, and its dedicated management team in the next phase of its exciting journey. GCH is a fine organisation putting tenants at the heart of its services, providing good quality, well maintained affordable homes where people want to live and can thrive. I believe everyone needs a good home, because good homes make everything possible. Without a good home it is difficult for anyone to feel comfortable, happy or secure in their life.”
He went on to say; “We will be very sorry to lose Tim who has been a great ambassador for the organisation over many years and who has overseen significant transformational change at GCH to improve tenant services and build new homes, becoming a leading Housing Association with strong community values and high performance. I intend to carry on this role to support our tenants and ensure that we continue to build strong and successful communities through our work as a major housing provider in the City.”
