Gloucester City Homes (GCH) is pleased to announce the redevelopment of 4 garage sites in Gloucester. The sites will be transformed into fifteen new homes for Gloucester residents in Hucclecote, Cathedral City, Quedgeley and Tuffley which will offer modern affordable housing.
Robert Panou, Head of Development at GCH says; “We are pleased to have been granted planning permission which allows us to transform old and underused garage sites to deliver much needed housing which also improves the appearance of the areas. There is a high need for level access bungalows in the City and we are glad that 10 of these 15 homes will provide more of this popular housing type.”
In Hucclecote, the Colwell Avenue garage site will be developed into five 1 & 2 bed bungalows for both affordable rent and shared ownership.
In Cathedral City, the Lichfield Road garage site will be developed into three 2 bed houses and one 2 bed bungalow all for affordable rent.
In Quedgeley, the Parklands garages will be developed into three 1 & 2 bed bungalows for both affordable rent and shared ownership.
And finally, in Tuffley, the Headlam Close caravan storage site will be developed into two 2 bed houses and one 2 bed dormer-bungalow for both shared ownership and affordable rent.
Work is due to start this year to complete the homes in 2020.
Michael Hill, Director of Asset Management at GCH added; “So far at GCH we have delivered over 150 new homes since 2015 and we have ambitious plans to boost this to over 500 by 2024. We are always very proud to develop homes on land that we own as they add to the existing communities in which we have worked in for years and this gives our current tenants opportunities to move into more suitable housing whilst releasing more social housing for the local people.”
