Gloucester City Homes (GCH) is thrilled to have delivered its 200th new affordable homes across 18 sites.
Ashley Green, GCH’s Chief Executive said: “ Our 200th home was completed in early December as part of the St James Close development in Quedgeley, delivered in partnership with Aqua Construction. The scheme has provided 16 new homes as well as fencing, lighting, landscaping and parking upgrades for the local community.”
To mark the occasion, a community Christmas tree has been placed by the site. Over 70 members of the local community attended the tree lighting event with mince pies, mulled wine and some seasonal songs from Gloucester City Community Choir. It was a good opportunity to thank local residents for living next to the building site and to bring the new and existing community together.
Ashley went on to say “GCH’s ambitious building program began in 2015 and has provided a mixture of high-quality rental and shared ownership homes for local people in and around Gloucester. With 200 homes built in five years, the next 5 years will see plans doubled to invest £70million to construct 400 more affordable homes across the City.”
Robert Panou, Head of Development said “With a growing waiting lists for quality, affordable housing, we will continue to invest in new homes in the city. We understand that construction activity can be stressful for local residents and make sure to give something back to the existing local community. Our upgrades and Christmas event was a great way to say thank you to the existing residents of Quedgeley.”
