Christmas waste and recycling collections

Gloucester City Council has shared details of changes to waste and recycling collections over the Christmas period. Some collection days will change, but black bin collections remain fortnightly, so please check your dates before putting your bin out. The closed lid, no side waste policy still applies.

Extra recycling

The Council will accept extra recycling from Monday 29 December to Saturday 3 January, as long as it’s presented correctly. Residents are asked to hold onto recycling where possible and spread it across collections.

Christmas recycling tips
  • Only recycle wrapping paper and cards without glitter, foil or plastic
  • Break down cardboard and keep it dry
  • Food waste should go in your caddies or double-bagged in clear bags
  • Small electrical items can be placed on top of your recycling box
Christmas trees

Gloucester City Council is offering several ways to recycle real Christmas trees in January, including drop-off points and charity collections. Please don’t leave trees elsewhere, as this will be treated as fly-tipping. Click the link below to find out where you can take your tree for recycling.

Bulky waste

Bulky item collections provided by Gloucester City Council will be paused from 22 December to 2 January, restarting on 5 January.
